Soft Goods
I have extensive soft goods experience which can be applicable to a wide variety of projects and productions. Below is a breakdown of the different skills I have to offer. Click the link to view examples of each skill.
01 Upholstery
My favorite component of soft goods props making, upholstery can change the entire look of a piece of furniture, making it fit the world of the play. While I have the most experience in slip seats, I have the foundational experience to support more complicated upholstery projects.
02 Sewing
Traditional sewing is my expertise, having a lot of costume construction experience. All of these sewing skills translate very well to props, as I have sewn drapes and curtains to leather water bottles and make up puffs for props with the same techniques as the ball gown and corset that I have made.
03 Painting, Dyeing, Distressing
In addition to creating fabric props, it's often necessary to alter the look of the original fabric. I have experience with fabric painting and dyeing and can create different looks depending on the needs of the production.
04 Textile Arts and Other Techniques
While less common in theater, I am skilled in knitting, crocheting, and embroidering, among other textile arts. This portfolio demonstrates the unique fabric manipulation techniques that are useful in a props department.
